I'd like to thank everyone who piped in with suggestions.

I found I had a K-400 mount, the one with the turney knob to tilt the
antenna down, made for a trunk lip.

I took a piece of aluminum, flat, and screwed it under the luggage rack
mount in the back of the driver's side ( nice tip about trees being higher-
hadn't thought of that ).

I am also grounding the coax back there.

Techs are still mounting it. Hope for the best! And again, thanks to all.
