I like to operate CW in QSK mode, have just recently acquired an =
FT-1000D and have found that in break-in mode the rig doesn't work to my =
liking.
The sidetone is harsh on the start and stop of keying and as a result =
the audio from the rig "thumps" as you are sending and as the rig goes =
into and out of transmit mode. I end up using my Timewave external =
filter to soften the side tone and take out the harshness of the =
sidetone and can then run QSK reasonably well that way.
I found a "key clicks" mod on the net for the FT-1000D and tried it, but =
it did not resolve the problem and in fact distorted the audio even =
worse by making it sound "chirpy".
Any folks out there using their FT-1000D in break-in QSK mode? How is =
it working? Any mods?
Comments welcome.
