[Yaesu] Computer interfacing and CW keying FT1000D

I am in the process of developing an interface to allow Writelog software to
work between my PC and my FT1000D.
I am interested in CW operation.
I see some designs using a separate line from the PC to the key jack of the
radio, as I understand the rig needs to be keyed directly.
The Yeasu interface shown on Feb 1993 QST p39. has no such line.
Can anyone tell me more?
Specifically what pin or pins of the parrallel or series ports of the PC
would carry cw information from Writelog?
