[Yaesu] QUADRA

Hi John,

Assuming 220V mains, you should calibrate the ALC for 1.0 kW output. The
maximum output rating of the MRF150 power devices is 1.2 kW (8*150). This
setting will give a 20% safety factor, along with IP3 < -32 dB relative to
peak 2-tone.

The squeal should not be a concern, as long as the VP-1000 output voltage is
in the range 45 ~ 50V at full output. There is a possibility that some RF
may be getting into the VP-1000; you can check this by transmitting into a
dummy load.

One caution: It is absolutely imperative to ensure that the ALC line is
connected to the exciter. The ALC is the Quadra's first line of defence.

Subject: [Yaesu] QUADRA

Hi, I just recently got a Quadra amp and wanted some recommendations on
a good power output to set it at. Also, when I am in CW mode, my power
supply has a slight squeal to it. Checked the voltage and that is fine.
I havnt been able to get any answers to my emails at Yaesu. I talked to
Andy there, but he hasnt answered my emails on these additional
questions. Any help from experienced owners would be helpful. Thanks-
John
