[Yaesu] dates of manufacture - FT-990s

I have two FT-990s
A. s/n 1F040172 has both narrow filters
B. s/n 1K080261 has neither narrow filter

I have ordered TCXO-2 units for both (thanks to information on this list!).

My plan is to put the board with the filters in the newer unit (which 
I suspect is the "B" unit above) and keep the other as a spare, or 
sell it reasonably (someone make me an offer over 700).

So, who can tell me which unit is newer, and are there any other 
changes that I should make to upgrade it? What are your opinions on 
this, and what are the PIN diode mods I read about?? Are they worth 
making?
