[Yaesu] Problem with main tuning knob on FT920

The first 920 I saw at hamcom when they first came out. The main VFO
knob was just as you described. I could not believe Yaesu was sending it
around to shows. In 1998 I was in the market for a new rig and again
looked at the 920. I was told that the early models had that problem and
it had been corrected. I bought one 10/98 and there is no perceptible
play in any direction after almost 4 years.
Do you know how old your 920 is?

Subject: [Yaesu] Problem with main tuning knob on FT920

I recently acquired a used Yaesu FT-920 transceiver. Seems to be a very
nice transceiver with one exception. The main tuning knob seems to be
loose
and moves up and down. In other words, it is not a tight fitting shaft.
The VFO B knob is solid. Is this a common problem? What is the fix?
All
comments would be appreciated.
