Thanks to all who offered advice so far about my
problem with the FT100D and interfacing it to my
rigblaster. Here is what is currently going on:
1. The rig is set in USB mode, and being fed through
the rear data in connector. The wiring seems OK as
the PTT is closing, and a signal is going out
2. I have the soundcard out level set at minimum.
With my TS2000 and Icom 746 which I had before it was
set near maximum.
3. When I adjust the AFSK level on the menus, it has
to be about 35. Any less, and there is no power
output, I have confirmed it with a wattmeter.
4. At the 35 level as in #3, the ALC reading is about
maximum on the meter. Cannot lower the soundcard
level anymore, and it is line out, not speaker line.
5. Completely puzzled as to what to do next. Only
other possibility is that RF is getting back into
something screwing it up. never had that problem
before. The packet cable came from yaesu and I think
it is shielded. It connects to a radio shack line
which I don't think is shielded. The line to the
audio in for the computer is shielded, except where it
is soldered to the packet cable. I ran a similar
setup with my TS2000 with no problem.
You can see my frustration! The FT100D is my only
radio, and am not sure I want to give up digital
modes, but it appears to be coming to that!
Especially don't want to lose WSJT for weak signal and
JT44, but I don't know what else to do. I cannot get
this set up to work. And it was so easy with my other
two radios. Beginning to wonder if I made a mistake
getting this radio, and am seriously thinking about
selling it and getting another that will work with my
Rigblaster. I really like the FT100D except for this
problem, and it is driving me crazy.
Any Advice?
