[Yaesu] FT-1000D hi-SWR problem

Chris W2PA wrote re the above. I purchased a secondhand FT1000 some time
back and the previous owner forwarded to me correspondence he had with Yaesu
Europe about what seems to be the same problem. He described it as "....the
fault being that the tuner is unable to find a match even into a dummy load
on all bands and the HI-SWR led lights above about 20 watts output."
Yaesu responded by sending him four diodes type 1SS101 and told him to
replace the the four diodes D7201, D7202, D7203 and D7204 in the LPF unit
with the new ones.  He did this and he told me that was the only problem he
had with the FT1000 and it never recurred. The LPF board is in the centre
top of the rig and from the Technical Supplement Manual, these four diodes
are grouped close together towards the right rear corner just to the right
of the third relay from the back of the board (RL7204).
Perhaps Mike KA5CVH might mail me off list to let me know where I can find
details of the "grounding strap mod" he mentioned in his mail.
