[Yaesu] FT-1000D hi-SWR problem

My FT-1000D has developed a problem.  The symptoms are high SWR on an
antenna that checks out fine and a dummy load.  With the RF power level set
very low, the SWR behaves as expected, but as you increase the power to
around 5W, the SWR reading shoots up drastically and the power is clamped.
Naturally the antenna tuner isn't able to deal with it.  No other symptoms
- receiver works fine.  This problem seemingly cropped up spontaneously -
one day it was fine, the next day this was happening.

Has anyone else seen this problem occur with an FT-1000D?  Any ideas on
fixing it?  I thought I'd check here before sending it in for service.
