Gary,
Will do.
If you look at the schematic, three 3 critical regulators are
+5, +8 and -7.x. These are the ones I am working with.
The 'raw' source of 12 V. is from the switching power supply.
Unfortunately, with the switcher a crowbar may not work very
reliably and fast. In my approach, I am sensing the three voltage.
If any foes up by approximately 15%, the series high speed switch
at the input will open and remain open till the radio is shut. The
protection circuit will be good for up to 30 V at the input.
Once the over voltage is activated, an LED will be turned on to
show which one is at fault. Since the LED will be on the circuit
board and you can not see it, there will be a small beeper to let
you that over voltage has occurred and you need to open the cover.
One can move the LED to the outside.
Gary, please give me your direct email so that it will be in my address
and I will keep you informed.
Mine is: [email protected]
I live in Los Angeles.
73,
Mort, KB6BSN
