In my experience, both in general and with Yaesu in particular, it
doesn't. Of course, if something goes wrong with *your* radio and you
aren't happy with the service experience, you would complain loudly,
wouldn't you? I think the chorus of loud "Yaesu service rots" voices
here are overshadowed by the much larger majority who either did not
need Yaesu service at all or else had a positive experience.
Having said that, I do believe that the rigs of 20+ years ago were
bigger and were much more ruggedly constructed. It's kind of hard to
make something the size of, say, a VX-1R bulletproof.
Compare your TS-530S with today's equivalent rig, though, and I think
you'll find performance to be surperior with today's better equipment.
Time and technology march on.
All the best,
Caity
