The purpose for me is not to save the files but to be able to send them
to other hams. I only have a telephone connection and assume that alot
of others have the same type of connection. It makes a lot of
differance in the time spent sending files if I can make them as small
as possiable and still not loose too much difinition.
I don't know about all the file types you mentioned but do know the GIF
file will not be made smaller if you try to compress it with winzip or
any other compression program as the GIF file is already compressed. It
will only be made bigger due to the few exta bits needed for winzip.
I was just looking to see what others were using to send scanned copies
of schematics so I would not have to reinvent the wheel.
