Try to go off frequency + or - 5 MHz. I have an FT-8100 that seems to work
for most repeaters but for some simplex operations I get bad reports until I
go off frequency.

Do not enable the narrow feature unless others are doing the same for
simplex or you know the repeater is setup for narrow. I have never used
narrow, so I am not sure about how repeaters are using it. But I am pretty
certain that you would get a bad report if your simplex friends are not
setup the same way.

I think this is an off frequency problem. Good luck.

Hello All...I purchased an FT-7100M yesterday. I have been getting nothing
but horrible audio reports with it whether the TX Narrow (menu #32) is on or
off. Also I have a blue dot on the box. I've been reading around and some of
the guys have a blue and yellow dot. Some others say they have a blue,
yellow and a red dot. What do these dots mean? I literally installed it in
the car last night. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
