[Yaesu] VX-5 Mods - MARS/CAP

I've just gotten a new VX-5r, a great radio; I have no complaints about it
(well, other than the belt clip, maybe... hehehe) I've got the ADMS
software, as well I've downloaded the EVE software. From what I'm
understanding, EVE is supposed to allow you to do the MARS/CAP mod via
software, rather than having to take a soldering iron to the radio. I've
tried doing the mod using EVE, but no luck. I can READ the data from the
radio into EVE without problems, however 100% of the time, when I try to
write the new data back to the radio, the transfer ends in an error. I've
tried writing back using both EVE and YARD, and get the same results. Has
anyone else used EVE? Can anyone else offer any advice/comment?
