My post was not about flaming anyone ...... Just about the facts. To set
the record straight, I do NOT own any Icom products , Not one. But I am a
tech who works on radio's all the time and know most rigs from the circuits
out. The Pro is a better rig is terms of recoverable audio period. Now I
have modified many FT-1000 with Irad filters (2.8khz) with great results.
You must understand the FT1000 / D model were market to the contester who
demand narrow filters for selectivity. Not good for fidelity. I have the
facts , as I have had both apart on the bench !!! The four best current
radios in terms of audio response on Xmit & receive are FT-1000MP, 756Pro,
Kenwood 950SDX, Kenwood 870S. They are the only rigs that will receive
100hz to past 3.5k (3.2khz for the MP) out of the box ...... plug & play .
Well of course the old Yaesu FT-102 will do it too!! (100-3k)
