Glen,
If you would look in a lot of ARRL FM/RPTR handbooks and other
publications, you would see that the FM allowed below 29.0 MHz
was called sliver-band FM...as NBFM was applied to 5 kHz FM at
the time...WBFM was 15 kHz in the LMR vocabulary at that time and
even today!

PS: one spot should read "was a real boon" not BOONE (I KNOW I KNOW...
good play on words!) I know all about the history of the FM channels
on VHF/UHF, etc... :)
