[Yaesu] PIN diodes

My research led me to an interesting study. It's
Hewlett Packard application note AN 1049. It shows
that PIN diodes with longer carrier lifetimes produce
less intermod than diodes with shorter lifetimes. The
commonly used "switching" diode is the wrong one to
use in this application! The previously mentioned
HP 5082-3081 with a Trr of 2500ns appears to be a good
choice. I checked Newark and they want $3.57 ea! I
went to Allied's web site and they have them for $2.40.
I ordered 25 to do my FT-1000D but completely forgot
about the aux receiver bandpass filters! Oh well, next
time.
