I have found that in practice, filter blow-by is not a big problem in the
920. If I use the DSP the problem disappears. Of course, it never goes away
completely but then it never did in my Drake R-4C. What I do is tune in the
CW signal I want and then activate the DSP. I also found that with
judicious use of both DSP and NR functions, I get almost equivalent
performance as the CW filter! Unfortunately, the 920 DSP is audio where IF
DSP is preferred. When I bought the 920, the IC-746 was my first choice.
Unfortunately the noise blanker was pretty useless. I also found the IF DSP
in the 746 didn't work as well in narrowing the signal as I would have
preferred. So it finally came down to buying a rig with a so-so IF DSP or
one with an excellent AF DSP and excellent noise blanker.
