Thanks to everyone who responded...I'm embarrassed that I missed the "BK" setting...thought it was a marketing ploy to make me want a "Whopper" :>) The power settings for all bands/modes are set to 100, so I guess I can start considering the grounding strap problem. I'd heard about this previously but, since I did not have an FT-100D, I paid it no attention. 73, Jack, W7PW
