Yep.  A is american/NA and E is european.  Normally the european models have
different frequency coverage (naturally) and the ability to do the 1750Hz
tone burst thing they use to access repeaters.

My radio is an A, of course.  N0YMV is is the range assigned to the USA.

In the FT-530, there are a *ton* of functions.  This really is the first
of the 'kitchen sink' radios.  Each button has a function modified function
as mell as a 'setup' function.  Many even have a 'setup' function modified
function.  I.e. hit 'setup', then hit 'F', *then* hit the key in question.
Lots of little configuration options.  The VX-1R with the little scrolling
menu is so much easier to use.
