I've had one of these since they were new. :)  Great HT.
To turn off beep, you want to press and release the function
key--the lower right key--of the sort of rounded rectangle
keys.  Not one of the two strange oval shaped keys at the
far bottom right.  The key you are looking for is marked with
an inverted 'F'.  Then hit the key with 't set' above it.
This takes you into the tone set menu.  Press and release
the function key to toggle 'beep'.  When you're done, press
't set' again to go back to normal mode.  Oh, 't set' is the
2 key.
