[WVham] 10 Reasons to not monitor the Hurricane nets to come...

With tongue very firmly planted in cheek, here are 10 reasons NOT to
monitor (or check into) the 14.325 Hurricane net or other nets that will be
held in honor of Isabelle's arrival:

1. The hurricane will only affect the coastal areas of the Carolinas and
Virginia - West Virginia will not have any problems.

2. I haven't taken one of the ARRL Emergency Communications classes so I
won't know what is going on.

3. I've only got a Technician license, what good does it do to monitor?
And besides, I can only hit 4 repeaters on 2 meters from where I live.

4. The folks that run the nets picked frequencies that allow positive
point-to-point communications and they never need a relay station.

5. They wouldn't want me on the net because I am from outside the coastal
area.

6. They sound so good that they don't need any help.

7. Several of the stations sound like they have worked together before, and
I would just be an outsider.

8. What good does it do to listen to a net run by Virginia or North
Carolina, I live in West Virginia.

9. Nobody in VA or NC knows anybody in WV, so there won't be any health and
welfare traffic for us.

10. There are 20 stations monitoring for every 1 station checked into the
net, they don't need me.

I hope you didn't agree with a single reason I gave, and will stand ready
to assist in what looks to be a hard week ahead for the Eastern US. Oh, by
the way, the Eastern Panhandle area of WV stands a good chance of getting
hit rather hard. Here on the Western slopes of the mountains...get ready
for flash floods.
