ARES/RACES/SKYWARN Activation Method Survey - for SERA Repeater Journal.

I'm gathering information about using paging and other methods of
ARES/RACES/SKYWARN activation for an article in the SERA Repeater Journal.

(I apologize in advance for duplicate messages. I've sent this message to
several mailing lists, and I've asked SERA staff to forward this message to
individuals and groups they think might reply, so there's no way to avoid
some duplication. It's all been done manually - no automated SPAM.)

If you are using a particular activation method (like paging), or have
considered and rejected any methods, perhaps you'd respond to this short
survey? The results will be published in a future issue of the SERA
Repeater Journal, and I think a lot of people will be interested in the
combined experience of area Amateurs.

PLEASE REPLY TO: [email protected]
(Someone else may have forwarded this message, and if you reply to them, or
a mailing list, I might not get your reply).

========  ARES/RACES/SKYWARN Activation Method Survey  ===========

Name/Call:
e-mail:
City/Region:
State:
Group Affiliation/Position ("just a member" is OK):

Here's the survey:
How does your group alert members for an activation, drill or test?
(paging, telephone call-up, on-air, e-mail...)

How would you rate the success of your activation method?

If you use some form of paging, do you use a commercial system, or do you
page through an Amateur Radio transmitter?

If you page via Amateur Radio, give details:
(simplex, repeater, VHF, UHF, transmitter power/height... anything you can
think of that contributes to the success, or lack of success, of this paging)

What activation methods have you tried that FAILED? Why did they fail?

What activation methods have you considered and REJECTED? Why did you
reject them?

Anything you'd like to add?

THANKS!
The results will be in a future issue of the SERA Repeater Journal.

Again, please reply to: [email protected]

Gary KN4AQ
