The ARRL's September VHF Contest will be held on all Amateur Frequencies from 50 MHz & UP from 11AM PDT on Saturday, 10 September until 8PM PDT on Sunday, 11 September.
This is a great opportunity to see what your station (s) are capable of achieving, operating from a hilltop with great views & cooler temperatures, and making contacts in new Grid Locators.
All transmission modes are permitted, including SSB, FM, CW, & Data.
Most 6 meter operating tends to be with FT-8 these days, but some die-hards use SSB (50.125 MHz) & even an occasional FM (52.525 MHz Simplex) contact.
Two meter operations tend to be SSB (144.200MHz), FM (146.52 or 146.55 or 146.58MHz FM Simplex)), or FT-8, with a bit of CW.
A lot of 125/135 Cm ops tend to be on SSB (222.1 MHz) or FM (223.5MHz FM Simplex) in SoCal
70Cm typically is SSB (432.100MHz) or FM (446.0 MHz FM Simplex), although don't be surprised if you hear FT-8.
On higher bands, you'll typically find FM (1294.5MHz Simplex) only, although on 23Cm, SSB (1296.1 MHz) & CW are also found.
Most somewhat serious operators operate from 6 meters through 23Cm. Some even utilize the 33Cm (900 MHz band).
