Pete, N6ZE, in Grid DM04, says that this is a great opportunity to use our extremely valuable VHF/UHF/Microwave Amateur Radio Frequency allocations.
The SPRINT will enable communications without the use of repeaters and over distances in some cases out to more than 500 miles!
>From 1900- 1930 PDT, N6ZE plans to operate from a high point in the Santa Monica Mts (DM04qb) with about 50 watts of SSB/FM and a 10 element yagi antenna. N6ZE hopes to communicate with stations from Northern Mexico, San Diego, Greater Los Angeles, and possible as far north as Fresno. N6ZE also plans to operate from the Conejo Valley (DM04ne) from 2000 - 2030 PDT.
Good luck to all, wherever you operate from, and just remember the adage of several long time VHFers: Use 'em or Lose 'em!.
