Hi Ralph
We have emailed before and just wanted to reach out and see if you have
any interest in helping me get more QSOs from local mountain tops using
1294.5 FM
Attached is a snap of me atop Mt Baden Powell in the San Gabriels during
the June VHF contest.
I was up on San Jacinto (10,800 ft) after hiking up 4,500 ft over 7 miles
one way and managed a couple of 1294.5 FM contacts one out 100 miles
using my Alinco G7 1 watt on 1294.5.
Im planning on another San Gabriel peak possibly Tuesday which should
look right into Anaheim and another possibly later in the week from
Cuyamaca (near San Diego) which I also think has line of sight to
Anaheim.
If interested I can send you a link to my satellite tracking info (real
time position like APRS) and approximate schedule. I typically start
early to avoid the heat and am on my peaks somewhere between 8:30-10
depending on the drive time and length of hike.
