Hal,
    Off hand I would think the matching stub is frequency dependent and 
the same for either type antenna but maybe they were different? They are 
probably rather broad in frequency range. I have 2 of the original the 
6M5 antennas and the UHF N center pin was defective on one of the 
blocks. I ordered another UHF connector from M2 which came with the 
potting material. Digging out the old potting material was a chore and 
soldering was a bit of fun and hard to see what your were doing.  
Possibly the 70 ohm stub is defective  from lightening or some other 
reason like high power or high SWR? You may have a short, open or bad 
connection inside one of the blocks. I would think that would show as a 
SWR problem on that antenna. You could substitute a 50 ohm dummy load 
for each antenna one at a time or use four to check out the phasing 
lines? I would assume your SWR is good for the system?
