6 Meters provided 2 extensive long openings to the PacificNorthwest, and in fact I had as many QSOs with PNWVHFS area guys as I do when Ioperate VHF contests from CN87/88! I heard nothing to the East of DN35 andother than SoCal grids, all grids worked were from Southern Oregon northward to CO70and Eastward to DN17. I did not have my beam pointed Easterly very often, butdid not really hear any W6s working to the East. Note: my neighbor’s dog barksloudly at any sound, and in particular, when I release the rotator brake! Atvarious times, 50.080 – 50.100 MHz were jammed with many high speed CW signalsand SSB activity frequently was heard to just above 50.200 MHz. Despite thefact I’ve operated from DM04 for 20 years, I did manage to pick up 1 new gridDN05 (W7BX). I heard VE7DAY (CO70) during most of Saturday evening, but did notmanage to work him until noon PDT on Sunday. I made very few contacts on 2 meters becausemy M>2 2M5WL was in a fixed position to the East and pointing up about 30degrees. However, I did manage to work DM12 and actually heard K6MYC in DM07 onSSB on Sunday morning. Activity levels on 2 meters appeared to be very low forthis contest.
My final score is 1121 composed of:
6m: 46 QSO/23Grids
2m: 8 QSO/4Grids
