John,
It's a slow time of year - people go on vacation -- out of 432 range.
I've checked in with you a few times using an FT-817 (2.5 W) to a 2 meter beam (M^2 2M12). Great setup on 2 meters, but barely works on 432. Still better than a discone.
This weekend I'm working on my 432 station. Today I'm building a 30 W linear amplifier that I bought back in the 80s (yes, 30 years ago). Tomorrow I'll be assembling my new M^2 440-18 and, if all goes well, installing it on the mast with the 2M12 and 23CM35. This should bring me up from a 43 to a 59+20 for checking into the net.
The goal here is to put out a serious effort in the UHF Contest August 3-4, but another goal is to be able to check into the Thursday net. Next Thursday (7/11) I'll be at the SBMS meeting in Corona and will try to check in with you (mobile) before the meeting starts at 1900 local, but the week after, and in the contest, I hope to make good use of this new beam/amp.
All that said, it's just one vote for carrying on, but your efforts are appreciated and motivational. See you Thursday(s).
