I'm very saddened to hear of Ron's passing. Ron was the host at his ranch of the very first WSWSS convening of like minded VHF hams. Ron had many VHF awards and reveled in 4-wheeling and amateur radioing both together.
RIP Ron.

It saddens me to tell you that Ron Hammel K6WLC became a Silent Key just over a week ago. Ron hosted numerous WSWSS gatherings over the years at his Lockwood Valley antenna farm. and he made his station available to friends from the Antelope Valley and elsewhere who would otherwise not have had the chance to operate a serious station in the major VHF contests. Many of you knew him better and longer than I did, so you may have additional details to share about his life and his work in support of weak-signal activities in Southern California.
No formal services are planned at this time. RIP, Ron.
73,
Marty N6VI
