(Note: I previously sent this mailing to a couple of local area clubs)

The January 2012 ARRL VHF/UHF Sweepstakes contest period begins at 11:00AM PST on Saturday, 21 January 2012, and runs through 8:00PM PST on Sunday 22 January 2012.

The Sweepstakes is an excellent time to try out new antennas, and to see how far you can communicate on the VHF/UHF bands.

Contest contacts made be made on all ham radio bands 50 Mhz (6 meters) and up. As usual, use of repeaters and/or the National Calling Frequency of 146.52 MHz are not permitted.

Callsigns must be exchanged along with Grid Locator. (Everyone in Ventura Co. is in Grid "DM-04".)

Most activity will be near or on 50.090 MHz CW, 50.125 MHz USB, 52.525 MHz FM Simplex; 144.190 MHz CW, 144.200 MHz USB, 146.55, 58, or .61 MHz FM Simplex; 222.1 MHz CW/USB, 223.5 MHz FM Simplex; 432.100 MHz CW/USB, 446.0 MHz FM Simplex; 1296.1 MHZ CW/SSB, 1269.0 MHz FM Simplex.

Complete information may be found at: >>>>http://www.arrl.org/january-vhf-sweepstakes<<<<

I plan to operate a bit from my home QTH in DM04 and plan to possibly drive up to a minor hilltop if weather conditions permit.
