I recently discovered a great new tool which does: daily reporting, documentation, & activities of VHF/UHFers. While substantially of interest to Easterners, it also provides a daily treasuretrove of information for VHF/UHFers who reside in the rest of the U.S. & Canada also.

The daily "205MorningReport" has one page of 'bullet' items which are featured that day. The actual "205MorningReport" is an enclosed pdf file.

Stan solicits written submissions and in particular likes to feature jpegs of stations, antennas, operators, etc.

Stan's tremendous daily efforts yield a valuable tool for the "Weak Signal" VHF/UHF community AND he charges nothing for editing the material. He just needs input (articles & jpegs) from the readers.

The following is forwarded from Stan, KA1ZE/3, with his concurrence:

Hello,
Some have reported not opening the 205MorningReport email
hinking it was SPAM. It is not. The 205 Morning group was started in
ctober 2010. Ken W2UAD (FN13gc) and I were discussing the poor
ctivity level on 2 meters. The only time the band was busy was near
contest period. We also had a few weekly nets that we could check
nto. I was about to retire and wanted more! Ken thought if we got on
he air the same time every morning eventually others would find
s.... He was spot on! The quest began to help all other stations
ake contact with others by lining up antennas and helping with
iming sequences. We did this on 144.200. It didn't take long before
hose monitoring 200 told us we should not use 200 for that purpose.
e moved to 144205. 205 is a calling and working frequency. It is
erfectly fine to allow many to call and use the same frequency. Hey
fter all, the band had been silent for too long. We were all "making
oise." This was much better than the silence of white noise!
We have been using the ON4KST Chat page to line up our
lashlights and try for that distant - or not so distant - contact.
his 21st century type of operating has made the bands active again.
have been putting a daily report together highlighting what has
one on for that day. ALL 144 and ABOVE reports I get find their way
nto the 205MorningReport. NET reports and operating activity coast
o coast on all bands are reported.
ON4KST's Chat Page:
ttp://www.on4kst.org/chat/index.php?band=8
Take a look at the PDF and get on your radio and "MAKE SOME
OISE."
If you choose not
o want the daily email, send me a note and I will remove you from my
ist of nearly 700 weak signal VHF and above hams. Please send me
our daily contact log, anything of interest to you and of course, we
ove to see pictures.
Roger K2SMN, the net control station for
he East Coast VHF Society Sunday morning net (144.250 10:30AM), has
eveloped a web site archiving the 205MorningReports, beginning with
anuary 2012.
