Announing the route of the 2012 6M KW Rover Trip...

Great News! This time my lovely lady Rosie will be joining
me for the adventure allowing me to focus mainly on the
radio OPs which is a godsend. TY Baby!

A ten day route traversing 5 states and 56 grids starting in
in DM09 working East Along Hwy 50/40 to Dallas, TX.
South to the coast in EL28. Working back West along the
entire TX coastline to DL88. Then racing thru NM/AZ
to DM23, visiting my Brother in Vegas, Then back home.

Below is a working daily schedule. Tentative departure
is set for Friday June 9th. Starting the June VHF Contest
as a 2 band rover in DM38. Activating a dozen grids or
so.

Continuing on afterwards to the first of Eight (8) scheduled
stops where a 5 ele yagi will be setup. The rest of the grids
will be activated in transit using a large KB6KQ loop.

The truck for those who havnt heard is setup W/ a 8KW
generator & 40 ft mil surplus tower mounted in the bed.
In a custom made electronics cabinet rides a IC-PW1
KW amplifier and IC706mkIIg, both remotely controled
from the cab.

The design is such that the generator & KW Amplifier
can be operated while in motion. The Large KQ loop
has been stress tested to over 1 KW w/o any problems.

As before the modes will be SSB/CW/FSK441A.

Also as before, when no Es is present I will be operating
FSK441A while in motion using the loop. This tactic
was extremely effective last trip and resulted in many
Qs that would not have been made otherwise.

I will be CQing the calling freqs and moving up as
activity warrants. If no answers on SSB or CW,
I will CQ FSK441A on 50.260 listenting for
replies on 50.250. Once a reply is heard all further
traffic will be run on .250 until activity stops.
At that point I will cycle thru the pattern again.

WX7M, W7GJ, and maybe one or two others will
have my cell # and be able to relay to pingjockey
and the 6M DXers chat pages my current status.

It will be a hot, long, dusty road thru some very
remote & inhospitable lands but should make
alot of folks happy who manage to put me in their
log.

See you from the highway!

PS: As with all plans, nothing is set in stone and
maybe changed w/o notice. I'll try to keep you
all informed as best I can...
