1. Recent N6ZE 222 MHz Contest Activity statistics:
a. 2011 Spring 222 Sprint From DM04ne data: 6 FM QSO with locals even with postings made on WSWSS reflector & a couple of local Club reflectors. Other locals did not work much either! (TM331 & Whip)
b. 2011 Jan VHF Sweepstakes data: RL: Limited Rover; 12QSO made from DM03/04 (TM331 & Whip)
c. 2010 Sep VHF QSO Party data: RL: Limited Rover; 17Q made from CN87/8897 (TM331 & 5 el "VJB yagi")
d. 2010 Aug UHF Contest data: RL: Limited Rover; 3Q from DM04; 2Q from CN87; 1Q from CN88 (TM331 & whip)
e. 2010 Jun VHF QSO Party From DM04ne data: SOLP: Single Op.Low Power; 8 SSB QSO in 5 grids (FT736/Brick/9 el "M>2")
f. 2010 Jan VHF Sweepstakes: Rover Multi; 11QSO from DM04/03 (TM331 & 9el "M>2" yagi or whip)
2. N6ZE (DM04ne) VUCC Stats: 13 Grids worked, best DX 362.6 Mi.
3. General comments:
a. For initial low investment (to appease XYL and/or checkbook), a cheapie MFJ or equivelant 222 MHz band FM/SSB/CW transceiver with a 5 or 7 element EASY TO BUILD "VJB yagi" would generate a bunch of activity.
b. Like it or not, more and more of us are constrained by CCRs!! Not everyone can up up modest yagis for several bands any more, but still do not wish to abandon 'VHF weak signal" operations.
c. Look at how much 6m activity has increased in the past decade, partially due to the inclusion of 6m in most HF rigs, and possibly due to HF "big guns" use of StepIR antennae with 6m included.
