Hello Mike,
I don't know what happened around here ( central valley ) in the last 10
- 15 years but activity on 50 MHz and above
has dropped 90% . It used to be that I can hear 1 - 3 different QSO's
On 144 or 432 SSB on my commute every night and there were at least
acouple of 1296 SSB
Activity nights but all of that has vanished. I know many of the
operators are still alive and check into
the weekly SSB nets but no longer are really active on the higher bands.

They're probably on the HF bands. This is the weekend of the biggest HF
DX contest of the year, the CQWW DX Phone contest.
