N6NB and N6MU plan to be at Utah Pass (DM37)
around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, looking on
144.200 first. We may not be able to work
2.3, 3.4, 5.7 or 10 GHz. On low Potosi (DM25)
I was chatting with AF6O on 2.3 GHz after com-
pleting a contact when everything went dead there
and all higher bands on both transmit and receive.
I suspect the SMA i.f. transfer relay (yes, the
correct voltages are present).
I've operated at Utah Pass at least 20 times since
my first visit in 1971. That site is obstructed
north of about Bakersfield by higher nearby mountains.
I've never heard a signal from anyone further north
than that except on HF. Low Potosi is also obstructed
to the west and north. High Potosi, about 4 miles
away, is clear in all directions--but behind a locked
gate.
73,
Wayne
