   Hello Mike,

   I had the same problem and also permanently damaged several driven  
elements ( became non-repairable ) trying to bend them into match. I  
just left the first director off and never had a problem. I didn't  
notice any performance difference although the four bay array I used  
back then wasnt enough gain to make a sun noise measurement but  
signals didnt seem to suffer.
