I guess I will announce my plans for the contest. I must be a glutton for
punishment. I plan to go back to the same hilltop (Sheep Mtn) I operated
from last year in DN03bk. I hope that I don't have a similar experience as
last year though with 40 mph winds, antennas blowing over tearing large
holes in the tent, rain dripping on the radios, radios not working, Deer
Ticks, freezing temps, and bent and broken antennas.
I will have 6M through 432 and 1296. The 903 transverter is misbehaving, so
it may get left behind. I will have 5 element yagi on 6M (12' boom), 12 el
K1FO on 144, 16 el K1FO on 222, 25 el K1FO on 432, and 55 element Loop yagi
on 1296. Power levels are yet to be determined.
The tent has been replaced, and the antennas have been rebuilt, though the
weather doesn't seem to be cooperating. As most of you know, DN03 has no
hams that live there that get on VHF/UHF. The only way to work that grid on
VHF/UHF is when some nut like me goes out and braves the wx and equipment
failures to provide the Grid. Oh well, it's only money, right? This year I
may even take my sound card interface and do some WSJT. Listen for me on
the usual frequencies (except 50.255, 144.144, and 222.085 for WSJT). See
you on the air.
Bruce, KI7JA CN85rl / DN03bk
(p.s.) DN03 is one of the most wanted for the FFMA award among many others.
