With Norm's passing, the VHFers of the world lost a great friend and
contributor to the art of "Weak Signal" operation.
I first met Norm many years ago shortly after his relocation to Carson City
from S. CA. He was a great guy, always ready to invite someone into his home
and make them feel welcome. Hix XYL Karen was always the gratious host.
His knowledge of antenna theory was impressive and his loops speak for
themselves. I still have the second 6M loop he ever made. In a way I had a
hand in getting his business going much sooner than he was ready for.
Through the grapevine I heard of a new guy in Carson City who had this
killer 6M Mobile loop design. I sought him out and begged him to build me
one for my ROVER station. I loved it so much that I told everyone on the net
about his wonderful antenna. Almost immeadiately, he began to get
overwhelmed with inquiries from others needing his antenna. To his credit he
seized the opportunity and ran with it, and as we say... the rest is
history.
He was a passionate VHFer, always promoting that aspect of the hobby to
anyone he met. I feel fortunate to have called him my friend.
He Will Be Missed.
