After several years of hard work by myself and others, I finally managed to
work grid #50 on 222 Mhz!
Today, Robert KR7O was gratious enough to drive to the CM86xx grid corner
near Santa Cruz, CA. He went into the log at 1631Z on 222 Mhz SSB. Amazingly
he was S4 to S9 with 100W to a 7 ele yagi up 12 feet or so.
Man I love this band!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to all who helped along the way to make this all possible. Folks
like; Wayne, N6NB who made a soecial trip to the mtn and called me at 0300
Local to work him before he began dismantling the station. Bruce, KI7JA who
activated DN03 this past june as it was one I havn't worked yet on 222.
Norm, KC6ZWT who has activated over a dozen grids for me from his mobile.
Jack, NA7RF and his son Jonathan, K7DAE who used my Rover vehicle in 5
different contests while activating 16 very rare grids in NV, UT, and ID.
Mark, KU7Z in UT for his many QSO's over a very difficult path. Mac, K7MAC
in DN13 for a new state and grid. Don, KE7NR who spent many long hours in
the early weekend hours for over a year until we finally made it using
Meteors and FSK441A. And the gang in WA who were quick enough to turn on
their rigs during the two AU openings I have been privy to since I seriously
began chasing this goal little over 3 years ago. I could not have got here
without you all.
UPDATE... Robert, KR7O is now (1700Z, July 1st 2007) looking south on
222.100 and not hearing anything out of S. CA. Last chance before he leaves
guys!!!
