Gentlemen:
I have been trying to send a message to the reflector for several
days and it kept getting bounced. I found out that they (qth.net)
were having problems with their system and a lot of the mail wasn't
getting through. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this makes it
through this time.
I was the webmaster for the WSWSS web site for quite a long
time. Since this reflector and the WSWSS web site are important ways
of spreading information, I think we need to keep both. Here is what
I propose. I have called Dave (WA6CGR) and left him a message asking
if he would continue to support a website for weak signal. I will
take the current WSWSS web site and take all the references to WSWSS
off and clean it all up. That way it will continue to be a spot
where the weak signal community could come for information, nets,
beacons, etc. As far as the reflector is concerned, we cannot just
change the name. If we want a different reflector name, we need to
ask for one from qth.com and have it set up for us. Then one of two
things would need to happen. Everyone who is registered on this one
would need to re-register on the new one OR the list administrator
could cut and paste your e-mail address from the old list to the new
list which is what they call a mass subscription. The better way is
to have each of you do your own, that way there are no errors in the
transition. But this is something that would need to be discussed IF
the reflector name is changed.
So, at this time I am waiting to hear back from CGR to see about him
continuing to host a weak signal website. I have already secured a
new URL so the web address would be www.westcoastvhf.com
73 for now,
