Wayne, I think the idea of continuing WSWSS as a virtual club, via this
list, has merit.

I don't know how many of you are aware of it, but The NorCal QRP Club
operates in
this manner, and has for several years. There are no officers, no
meetings (save the monthly
lunch and show-and-tell get-together in the Bay Area) and they are going
strong, thanks to
the founder, the late Jim Cates, and people like Doug Hendricks and Paul
Maciel that keep
things going. This group also has a QRP forum each year that brings in
250 or more members
at Pacificon.

Sadly, a few years ago, I came to realize that the day of the local
club, except possibly for
the large, special-interest clubs, has come and gone. No one wants to
show up for a business
meeting, especially if there is no program. BTW, I recall that you
spoke at our local club back
in the 90s, and it was a great presentation!

It takes a lot of work to keep a club going, and also it is difficult to
get members to get involved.
Often, officer/board positions go unopposed each year at election time.

Hopefully, this is a concept that can work for us, and ensure that the
WSWSS lives on, at least
in an online sense.
