Well I’m slowly getting my tower up. The question I have is about how much
power the N type connectors can handle. I've seen it reported differently on
the various websites. I plan on running Andrews Heliax from the shack to the
top of the tower and terminating it with an N female connector. Then use
LMR400Flex from there to the antenna. On 1296 and 432 I doubt if I will ever come
near the max power of the connector. On 220 & 144 I might and on 6 and HF I
expect to be nearing legal limit. Any comments or experiences?
Thanks in advance.
Some questions I might get:
Why are you using heliax on 6 and HF?
Why are you using N connectors?
Answer: I get it surplus for free.
Depending on the feedback I get I guess I could break down and buy some 7/16
DIN connectors for LMR 400. Yeah I get the DIN females surplus too.
