We finally had some decent WX this afternoon so I quickly cobbled together a
single loop antenna atop a 20' mast and mounted it to the front porch here
at home.

Then I reworked the beacon transmitter a bit adding a couple of RCA jacks
for PTT and +12V instead of using the existing loose wiring bundle.

Around 430 PM, I verified its operation, loosley assembled the transmitter,
beacon keyer, and +12V supply into a large plastic bucket on the front
porch, flipped the switch, closed the lid, and it has been running ever
since.

When I am not on the air chasing down new grids, I plan to let the beacon
run for a couple months. Its zero beat at 144.279 Mhz CW on my IC-746. In
SSB mode, it tunes in nicely at 144.278 Mhz.

Mind you its running only 10W into a single KB6KQ loop at 20' from the
valley floor (4000' elevation) in DM09ol, but give it a tune and let me know
if you can hear it.

More info later as this project progresses....
