If I may call on your collective wisdom:

I've just set up a new rig with which I may be able to check into the
regular WSWSS nets (2m, 70cm only). At present I only have a dual band
vertical, well placed, but omnidirectional, and vertical. Clearly I'm
not going to get too far with this... but that's what it is for a few
weeks at least.

Are there any regular nets I might be able to check into with a
reasonable chance of success?

On Tuesday at 8pm I heard stations inside the bay area
(Fremont/Hayward I think), but couldn't hear net control (in
Sacramento I think).

Last night (Thu at 8pm) I was just heard by net control in Vacaville
at 8pm (144.250), but had to step out after 8pm so couldn't tell what
else went on.

Any advice gratefully received, especially on when to listen and on
what frequencies.
