Ralph:
In the matter of the passing of Bill R. Fleig, KA6VQV, another soldier
loses the battle, and we all look back about what we missed most about
the person. In my case, I didn't know Bill at all, but his passing will
be missed by many in our ham radio efforts. These days, it is difficult
to contact or pursuade others to join those interested in something other
than repeaters or 40 meter activity which hardly involves personal
dedication. Obviously, Bill was a dedicated individual that provided
activity and pleasure to many others on some of our mostly vacant UHF
frequencies in less populated areas.
As regards Bill's family, their loss of his living presence will be a sad
thing, but so shall we all, and it is inevitable. Making good use of the
short time we have on earth should present the challenge to us all to be
so gifted while still living.
