My original 2M Beacon (144.282) died a horrible death shortly after
installation 2 years ago. It was not worth repairing.

Since then I have been keeping an eye out for a suitable replacement and
last week I found a "ready to go" 2M beacon transmitter on Ebay. With alot
of persistance (and a bit of luck) I managed to win the auction.

It is a Motorola VHF point to point RF link transmitter that has been
modified to operate CW. It comes already crystalled up on 144.279, has
adjustable output power between 1 to 10W, and comes with a detailed service
manual and schematics.

Waiting on the shelf are a couple of beacon keyers to choose from along with
a power supply and single KQ loop antenna. With any luck this unit should be
shortly operational from home (DM09ol) during the assembly, tune, and
testing phase. I will run it barefoot into the single loop at 20'. After it
has had time to burn in and prove its reliability, I will find a high level
home for it somewhere here in Northern Nevada.

Stay tuned for updates as this project continues...
