Subject: [Moon-net] 3Y0X UPDATE!!!!

The following was just received from Gordon at 3Y0X:

We have quite a pileup going on 2m. If you can, tell the guys to spread
out a bit, and also not to transmit while we are in the middle of a
QSO! We have up to 6 at a time on the screen, all overlapping, and it
will go qicker if they have a bit of discipline,

2/14 log, all 2m:

KB8RQ,RA3AQ,AA7A,RK3FG,HB9Q,DF2ZC,9H1PA,EA6VQ,SM2ILF,SP20FW,K2TXB

We have a bad battery for the 2m amplifier. It has some internal arcing
(makes a noise). I will try to change to the reserve battery today, but
wx is horrible & I don't have the right fittings. I want to keep going
on 2m if I can. The other ops have been very good about not using 80m
while eme is going on.

No 70cm, don't expect any.

6m noise is impossible. I will try to beg for a clear window or two when

the moon is on the horizon. With the current wind, I don't hold out much

hope for elevation. I will transmit again next moon even if the noise is

there, so you can listen & give me reports. If I can get agreement to
shut the entire base down for a period, it will be moonrise/set +/- 1
hour max.

I wish we could do more, but we got a late start due to wx, and it has
been poor ever since. We are lucky to have got on the island at all. The

window for possible flight ops in the last week has been under 20 hours,

and we needed every bit of that just to get the stuff here! I will
attempt to keep 2m going to the end, so long as QSOs are happening. Tell

people we are abandoning skeds- call us on random. It is more efficient,

and if we get shut down for any reason it will give more people a chance

to work us. No sked has been successful to date.
