Fellow VHFers,
I'm running for the office of Vice President for the
WSWSS. I've been a ham for 34 years and currently
hold an Extra class license. My first exposure to VHF
and UHF was in 1984. OSCAR 10 went up and my uncle
had a station up. I had to get into satellite ops
myself and I found out that the radios I bought could
be used for more than just getting into the bird! I
was hooked on VHF/UHF!
I'd like to share this aspect of the hobby with
those that aren't aware and keep the flame going for
those of us that are hooked. Folks keep asking where
we (WSWSS) are going? Perhaps we need to digress back
to the basics, just getting on the air and having fun!
That's the spin I'd like to put on my office if
elected. I'd like to add some fun operating events,
not just the 'ole net stuff. An example of a really
fun event could be modeled from the Colorado 14er.
You guys and gals I'm sure have ideas too which I'd
like to hear.
I think that it's time to try something different to
peak our interests and keep the organization going.
Many of us have formed local groups and have
gatherings and meals together. These are fun and what
I have envisioned the overall group as. The idea of a
centralized group simply won't work because of the
distances involved. But it's all these small groups
that comprise the whole of the WSWSS and I believe how
we should be conducting business in the future.
I'd like your vote for Vice President for the WSWSS.
Thank you and 73, Kent K6FQ #183 DM-12
