Hello All,
There is some info here on those of you looking for high power on 900
MHz amps in this email.
Also W6IFE 120 foot dish is active tonight off the moon. He was 599
with my 10 foot dish and
his SSB signal was astounding last night!! He should be workable with a
reasonable 1296 tropo station.
Also just a note that tonight is the last night for the ARRL EME
contest. Anyone with
100 watts and a 3 W.L. 144 MHz antenna is capable of working EME tonight
especially with JT-65b for
those of you needing more countries and grids on that band..

Hi Joe
Thanks for sending me net notes it is good to keep up to date with the
guys
and their activities. I am sorry about not being active at the moment
but the
Auckland University of Technology has requested help to do some
astronomy
experiments with the dish. We are running Very Long Baseline
Interferometry
test with dish's in Australia. I attach an image of vt03b2 a source some
4.5
billion light years away captured by this system. We are planning to
increase
the size of the dish to about 12 metres soon. I hope to be back on eme
when
this is complete as we will install both systems to enable both
activities
to be operated.
Once again thanks and hi to all.

Dear friends
We plan for 144 and 432 MHz to be mostly QRV on JT65B. Never the less we
will
be QRV on CW several hours! We will be switching modes depending on
activity
levels. To find out our mode check with us at
http://www.chris.org/cgi-bin/jt65eme, we are stand-by there all the
time.
On 1296 our focus will be on CW with some JT65C if requested!
Our frequencies:
144.111 JT65B first (moving up to 144.150 if QRM)

1296.065 JT65C first (moving up to 1296.080 if QRM)
Band activity:
144 MHz QRV all the time!
November 12th 14.30z to November 13th 03.00z
November 13th 15.00z to 00.00z
432 MHz and 1296 MHz, we will be switching bands as follows:
November 12th 14.30z to 17.00z on 432
November 12th 17.00z to 19.00z on 1296
November 12th 19.00z to 00.00z on 432
November 13th 00.00z to 03.00z on 1296

November 13th 20.00z to 00.00z on 432
Depending on activity we may adjust our band activity-times. Please
check our
home-page for our actual bands and detailed frequencies! We will keep it
updated during the contest!
We will be stand-by on the jt-logger at
http://www.chris.org/cgi-bin/jt65eme.
We can be contacted any time for band/mode information and to arrange
for a
skeds! If you like a sked in advance you can send an e-mail with your

Hi All,
W6IFE TX frequency will be 1296.060. RX +/- 10 kHz. Please spread out
while
calling. This change will help to minimize QRM from crowded low section
of the
band. This weekend OVRO will concentrate on weak stations. Window to ZS
is
very short on both days, please help to receive weak signals with
minimum QRM.

Hi Joe et all
I have released my latest version (I have called a beta 1) of the EME
Planner.
Many changes/additions and the down load set up file is now less than
1MB ...
enjoy and please report ant bugs ... (zip them as I am on dial up!!)
or suggestions
to the above email address. It does not have a help file commensurate
with dinosaurs
understanding of EME ....
obtainable from ... Darrell at
http://www.ve1alq.com/downloads/software/vk3um.htm
and Peter http://web.telia.com/~u92010241/index.html
Oh ... and whilst at Peters site check out the opinions about JT65.

Hi Folks;
I hope to be QRV this weekend on both 23 & 70cm, but not certain. Just
recovering from a bad bout with the Flu...about 2 weeks of it all ready,
there were days I though I would Die and Days I wished I would.
I am still as weak as Wet Blanket, and MUST drive to Moncton tomorrow so
we
will see what happens.
I will try not to YYY, or PSE, some of you EME Stations, and next year I
will
have changes made to fold the 70cm 27.5 inch Diameter Back Plane (top
half
down), (bottom half up) to prevent excessive blockage beyond the actual
Scalar
ring which is only 15.75" on a 7.6m Dish.
On a YYY request, I would like to see, or hear the YYY'ed station I do
request
JUST your call from to perhaps consider the attempted contact a Sked and
send
just your call for a full 2.5 minutes as in a Sked condition, and at
least a
1 word spacing between your call sign.....that way I won't get the tail
end
and the front end mixed up in my Tin ears, which of only one works, hi.
BTW! on the *SK* comments I read.
A Very dear friend of mine, now deceased, VE1CD operated as a Coder as
they
were called (CW Operator), on Merchant Vessels transporting Goods and
Equipments across the North Atlantic to support the last War effort.
SK meant *Silence Keyer* following completion of a transmission
relating to
Position, etc, etc since they traveled in large convoys of ships, and
quite
often Un-Escorted by a Naval Ship to protect them, and nearly always
very
dense Fog some where along the way.
This was done in an effort to NOT give the Opposition an opportunity to
locate
their position with their Submarines, or Surface War Vessels.
Bill was an Amateur Radio operator years before the War started, but as
all
did, had his Licence suspended during the War.
We operated CW together with a group during FD's (Field Days) from the
50's
to late 60's, or early 70's and he did not remember *SK* being used
before the
War in Amateur Radio CW operations.
Some where along the line SK became the equivalent to the CW Operators
as the
Verbal *QRT* did to the then AM Operators .........i.e Final
Transmission to
you, and possibly everyone.
Some place along the line SK became a *Slang* expression of an Amateur
Radio
operator becoming Deceased, rightly or wrongly???? I really have no
problem
with using it as intended during the War Years. FINAL TRANSMISSION TO
YOU, or
(S)ilence my (K)eyer.
Regards & Hope to hear you at least some of you over the weekend, & GL
(good
luck),
Darrell
Regards & Thanks, Darrell

Hello EME'ers,
We are preparing to be on the moon this weekend. We will be on
1296.060Mhz CW and SSB from our moonrise at 0000UT Saturday with
moonset at 0930UT
On UT Sunday we will be on again at 1296.060Mhz CW and SSB. Moonrise
is about 0000z and similar moonset. We will be monitoring email at
the above address. We are also finally hoping to do moon mapping at
midpass on UT Sunday. We should be on 10,368.200Mhz. WA6JBD and N6CA
will be testing with us. If we are able to be open to contacts we
will announce it on these reflectors. You can also tell by our
sending the letters CQ!!! Again, this project rests on many
shoulders, but Chuck WA6EXV, has been our equipment guy and has done
a great job getting us on.
Some QSL's have been going to the club call custodian, Ed Munn
W6OYJ. That is fine. We don't have the QSL's ready at this point but
are working on it. We will publish a list of stations worked early next
week.
Looking forward to a great weekend. Any questions feel free to email
me.

Hi Joe, Well it started out to be a little excursion to work a few more
until
Sunset. I went to bed when my moon set at 3:00 AM! Gerald, Joe, K5SO,
and
Pop's were also hanging there til there Moon went under. Among the
pleasant
suprizes were, Frank, W2UHI, Don, W7UPF on random, and Jack, N7AM. All
of
those guys werre hanging in with great signals and staying up late!
Outstanding
effort from our over Eighty gang! Anyway, I have 64x36 in the log so
far, with
6 new initials...W6IFE, UR5LX, SM4DHN, ES6RQ, W7UPF and VK4AFL. Missed
SM3LBN
before the contest started. Also heard JA1BGU, But couldn't entice him
to call
me. Anyway, 7 JA's in the log are not too bad. Station played well.
Tracking
stayed ok all the way around from rise to set. Tried some more volts on
amp
(2.2KV). It makes a bunch of difference. The screen current tames down a
bit.
Power output gets well up there. Almost 480 watts. I didn't run it that
way a
whole lot as it made little difference off the Moon. I saw some weird
spreading
on the JA echoes at their Moonrise. The sigs almost lost their coherence
completely. Had many dense rain squalls in the path all afternoon and
evening.
They did effect the echo strength. After the contest, I plan to do do
some
tweeking and put in the round Septum Feed. Thanks, 73, Bruce

Hi Joe-
Well, no joy on 1296 for me last night. K5JL and I heard each other
before
the contest started- I was sending him "O"'s and he was hearing me "M"
copy.
He felt like I had the chance to probably work some people.
So I went to the radio club meeting and was home by 0300Z, but never did
find W6IFE (they surely were NOT on .060). I did hear several stations,
including K0YW and K5SO (apparently- I didn't get the calls- big guns
don't
call for very long and us little guys have to work to pick the calls
out-
hihi), but W5LUA called on the phone to see how I was doing and told me
that
was who I was hearing. Al and I sent dashes to each other a bit and I
found
him easily, but he could just tell I was there, so we didn't try to have
a
QSO.
I listened around till moonset at 0740Z, CQ'ed a bunch with no
responses,
and heard K5SO in there again around 0715-0730, but he didn't respond to
me
calling him.
I'm going to try a couple of things today- J suggested disconnecting the
array and just trying one yagi and comparing the Sun noise- his thoughts
were that maybe the array is just too messed up and a single yagi might
do
as well, or better. Easy to try with the Sun today.
I'll be back on the Moon starting around 2100Z (with whichever antenna
system proveds the greatest Sun noise) to see if I can hear/work any of
the
EU big guns like HB9BBD, HB9SV, OK1DFC, or DL0SHF. If I don't do well,
I'll
quit till the Moon rises in California and give one more shot at W6IFE-
if
they provide you with an update on their operation, I'd like to know
about
it, as I was surprised they weren't busy CQ'ing all evening on .060 as
they
indicated they would be looking for "weakies".
That's all for now- see you on the net.
